SHOKETTA（ショケッタ）
沖縄県那覇市出身。5歳よりピアノを始め、幼少期から音楽に親しむ。
13歳の頃より米軍基地チャペルで演奏活動を開始。沖縄にいながら本場のゴスペル音楽に触れた経験は、後のソウル、R&B、ジャズへと繋がる音楽的基盤を築いた。
沖縄県内のホテルやライブハウスで活動後、2001年に上京し約4年間ボイストレーニングを受ける。その間、2004年にバークリー音楽大学の奨学金を受賞し、2007年に同大学へ進学。2009年よりニューヨークへ拠点を移す。
2010年、ジャズシンガーとしてアメリカ携帯電話会社ハナセルのイメージレディに選出。現地での出会いをきっかけに2012年ニューヨークにてアルバム制作プロジェクトが始動。
ベーシストでありN.Y.音楽シーンを代表するリッチー・グッズをプロデューサーに迎え、クラレンス・ペン（ドラム）、アンディー・エズリン（ピアノ）、ノゾミ・ヤマグチ（ギター）ら世界的ミュージシャンとレコーディングを行い、
2014年7月にデビューアルバム『MY SOUL』を全国リリース。
2021年秋には、創業100年を超える越野建設株式会社（東京）「音学マンション倶楽部アンバサダー」に就任。
現在は沖縄を拠点に国内外で活動。グラミー賞受賞ピアニスト、チップ・クロフォードと共に「Crawford and Shoketta Music Production」を主宰し、楽曲制作にも取り組む。
近年はエレキベースの習得とともに、沖縄の伝統楽器・三線の研究にも力を注ぎ、ジャズを軸とした新たな音楽表現の可能性を探求。2026年〜2028年にかけた国際プロジェクトの準備を進めている。
Shoketta is a vocalist born in Naha, Okinawa, Japan. She began studying piano at the age of five and developed a deep connection to music from an early age.
At thirteen, she started performing in U.S. military chapel services in Okinawa, where she was immersed in authentic gospel traditions without ever leaving the island. This formative experience later led her toward soul, R&B, and jazz.
After performing at hotels and live venues throughout Okinawa, she relocated to Tokyo in 2001 to pursue professional vocal training. During this period, she was awarded a scholarship from Berklee College of Music in 2004 and enrolled in 2007.
In 2009, she moved to New York, where her international artistic journey expanded.
In 2010, she was selected as the image representative for Hanacell (U.S.-based mobile service company) as a jazz vocalist. Connections made in New York led to the launch of a recording project in 2012.
Her debut album MY SOUL was produced by renowned bassist Richie Goods and recorded in New York with distinguished musicians including Clarence Penn (drums), Andy Ezrin (piano), Nozomi Yamaguchi (guitar), and other internationally recognized artists. The album was released nationwide in Japan in July 2014.
In autumn 2021, she was appointed Ambassador of “Ongaku Mansion Club” by Koshino Construction Co., Ltd., a historic Tokyo-based company with over 100 years of history.
Currently based in Okinawa, Shoketta continues to perform domestically and internationally. In collaboration with Grammy Award-winning pianist Chip Crawford, she co-founded “Crawford and Shoketta Music Production,” expanding her work into composition and music production.
In recent years, she has broadened her artistic scope by studying electric bass and traditional Okinawan sanshin, integrating contemporary jazz expression with Okinawan cultural heritage while preparing for long-term international projects spanning 2026–2028.
